Jake William Capistran is a Portland-based singer and multi-instrumentalist whose unique blend of folk, rock, and soul can be heard up and down the west coast. In describing his last album, Vortex described his music as "well-crafted songs that are steeped in feelings and sounds of a time gone by while remaining relevant in the modern music landscape, moments of doo-wop mix with twangy rock and roll guitars and soulful organs—and it's all buttressed by Capistran's steady, effortless lyrics that easily paint pictures in your mind."
Crystal Lariza and Joe Suskind are the main songwriters from Never Come Down - the 2019 winners of the Rockgrass Band Competition. As band leader Joe Suskind puts it, "This band was born out of taking risks. We all felt the pull to take a chance on our music and each other, so we left our day jobs behind and hit the road." Earnest songwriting, dedication to craft, and genuine care for the music is at the forefront of whatever Never Come Down does.
Now based in Portland, OR, Arran is working on his fourth album and completing a graduate degree in teaching. Over the years, Arran has played at coffee shops and house shows, and opened for Northwest favorites like Leif Vollebekk and JefferyMartin. His work has been praised for its powerful stories, cathartic songwriting, and ability to "[weave] concrete images and abstract feelings."
